It became evident during the Made by Google event on Wednesday. That Google wants to incorporate generative AI into its new Pixel 8 smartphones. Google is introducing support for on-demand summaries. Translations, and read-aloud features for publications and web pages, among other features, with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The Assistant takes care of everything, either with verbal commands or on-screen prompts.
The Assistant on the upcoming Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be able to sum up website information quickly. Providing a breakdown of the page and bullet points of pertinent content. In this sense, it is similar to engaging with Bard or Bing AI. An essay about iPhones, for example, might end with action buttons that read, “About iPhones,” and “Who invented the iPhone?”
The new Assistant can translate text into many different languages and can even read the content aloud (for languages it supports). Whether the content is original or translated, the read-aloud mode includes a draggable progress indicator, playback-speed options. And 10-second skip buttons in both directions.
On the Pixel 8, call screening has also been improved, and the Assistant should sound more human while speaking with callers. This basically means that there will be more pauses and odd noises. As the conversation continues in the background, call screening will also provide customers with a longer choice of possible responses to select from.
Another update to the Assistant will enable typing, editing, and sending of messages in other languages, as well as doubling the speed at which users may voice-compose messages. Overall, even when users communicate in different languages, Assistant should be able to better comprehend them when they speak in natural patterns. Google’s At A Glance feature will also offer more helpful information, such as travel updates and event tickets.
With generative AI, Google is also improving the Recorder app’s functionality. Recorder will be able to deliver high-level summaries of recorded content on Pixel 8s. This is in addition to the transcription features already present in the Recorder app.
On October 12, sales of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will begin at $700.
