In Georgia, the former White House chief of staff and 18 other people, including Donald Trump. They were accused of a number of offenses in connection with their attempts to rig the state’s election. Meadows has attempted in vain to have his case transferred from Georgia state court to federal court by claiming that he was acting in the course of his official duties.
Wallace, however, used video from the committee meetings on January 6 to argue that Mark Meadows went much beyond the scope of his official responsibilities in advancing the phony electors conspiracy that is at the core of the Georgia case.
The chief investigator for the Jan. 6 committee, Timothy Heaphy, claimed that Meadows didn’t dispute his involvement when questioned.
He said that Meadows maintained that he was carrying out his duties, which included keeping a watch on what the president was doing, and that he “basically agreed with the factual allegations that are in the indictment.”
Meadows, according to Heaphy, wasn’t just a bystander, either. He was an “active participant, turning the wheels of the conspiracy and facilitating this fake electorate plan.”
